SUMMARY:STEPS - Pablo Castañeda\, María José Gallardo\, Sofía González\, Víctor González\, José Carlos Naranjo / Javier Parrilla\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:6A TALLER I GALERIA\, as a new member of the Art Palma Contemporani Association\, celebrates the ART PALMA BRUNCH 2025 with a new exhibition opening where the good painting is undoubtedly the protagonist. For the first time the works by Pablo Castañeda (Cádiz\, 1989); Sofía González (Sevilla\, 1994); Víctor González (Jerez de la Frontera\, 1996); Maria José Gallardo (Villafranca de los Barros. Badajoz\, 1978); José Carlos Naranjo (Cádiz\, 1983) and Javier Parrilla (Sevilla\, 1975) meets in the same project. The 6A exposes different discourses\, for a moments in fight\, but in peace thanks to the good understanding by a rigourous painting\, finding their own place in the group\, that turns unique under the name “STEPS”. \nIn collaboration with Barrera Baldán Galería (Sevilla). \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n10.00 – 18.00

SUMMARY:The Painted Word - Tim Ayres i Avelino Sala\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:The Painted Word is an exhibition project that focuses on the work of two artists who work with elements that directly refer to books\, novels\, or texts. Taking the title of Tom Wolfe’s 1975 book as a reference\, it serves as a pretext to articulate what is truly a dialogue between the two artists. \nWhile Tim Ayres (1965\, HasAngs) treats words almost like concrete poems in his canvases\, Avelino Sala (1972\, Gijón) gives more importance to the book as an object. Sala moves between sculpture and painting with different series of works made with books. He uses art history as a reference\, using pieces by Piet Mondrian\, Josef Albers\, Yves Klein\, and Carl Andre\, to infuse the works with textual content and messages. Messages are a central theme in the work of these two artists\, so proposing this dialogue constitutes an important exercise in interrelation between the gallery’s artists. \nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 13.30\, 17.00 – 20.00

SUMMARY:Mirage in the Mirror - David Magán\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:My artistic practice focuses on exploring the universality of art\, promoting individual reflection on the environment and one’s own identity. I seek to transport the viewer to a visual universe which seeks the sublime through a sensory experience. Initially\, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the pure hedonism of the experience by experimenting with light and space. However\, my aim goes further: I intend to provoke profound thought on the physical phenomena that surround us\, by challenging perception and by questioning our understanding of the world. \nI believe communication is the most powerful tool an artist has. Having a utopian vision of art\, I aspire to develop a universal artistic language that transcends barriers of gender\, social position\, ideology\, culture and religion. This inclusive and poetic language draws on the natural tools present in our universe\, such as physics and mathematics\, to explore the connection between humans and nature\, thus awakening primordial and profound sensations. \nEncompassed in my research of the inclusive and universal\, I prioritise the development of the playful and the participatory. These concepts seek to reconnect us with the childlike essence within us all\, to free us from social conditioning and encourage the development of our own subjectivities. The interaction between the object\, space and the individual plays a key role in my exploration of the concept of the public\, as a habitable and welcoming space\, committing myself to the creation of contemporary\, unconditioned communities. \nThe mysteries that surround us have always been a driving force in human exploration and the quest for knowledge. From the farthest reaches of the universe to the tiniest corners of matter\, this uncertainty about our existence fuels my work. Through concepts such as the ethereal\, the intangible and the immaterial\, I aim to create a sense of mystery that connects us to the depths of our individual spirituality. \nDavid Magán \n  \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n10.30 – 18.30 \nSaturday\n10.30 – 13.30

SUMMARY:Shanghai Garden - Juan Olivares\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Painting is very close to what happens\, to the permanent flow of things. Painting is a way of experiencing and creating continuously that helps us know ourselves. For a few years now\, my work has been inspired by the painting process. If we focus our attention on the process itself\, there are many elements that are painting in and of themselves. The preparation of a primer\, the choice of support\, the palette\, the discards… \nThe palette incessantly accumulates mixtures and searches\, but it also stores all the time a painting or a series of paintings needs to be revealed. Heraclitus affirms that the foundation of everything is in incessant change. Everything is transformed into a process of continuous birth and destruction from which nothing escapes. In the palette\, we can discern the traces of that process. In this sense\, the most recent paintings are containers of experiences and searches for small revelations through mixtures\, from which you somehow emerge fulfilled. Painting is the process. \nSome of the paintings in the “Shanghai Garden” exhibition at the Maior gallery were created in Shanghai and inspired by a romantic idea: to find a palette that can embody the emotions experienced and the energy the city transmits. At the same time\, the idea of the garden as a search for a lost paradise is also present in all the works and speaks to us of respect for nature\, even more so after the tragedy in Valencia. \nAs Mario Satz tells us in his book “Small Paradises\,” the classical Chinese garden was the first of all gardens devised by humans to delimit a specific area of a hill or stream and consider it\, as such\, a place of manifestation of a beauty that must be cared for\, respected\, and cherished\, but never deformed… The irregularity of the garden guaranteed that nothing and no one would be completely subject to any order other than that of the universe itself. \nJuan Olivares \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n10.00 – 14.00\, 17.00 – 20.00 \nSaturday\n10.00 – 13.30

SUMMARY:Hermaphrodite - Pola Sieverding\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Pola Sieverding’s Hermaphrodites (2020–2022) explores the fluid\, ambiguous nature of sex and gender through the sensual imagery of oysters. Their folds\, textures\, and secretions evoke the raw\, tactile qualities of the body\, blurring the line between the erotic and the abstract. By drawing on the bisexual nature of oysters\, Sieverding challenges rigid binaries\, inviting viewers to reconsider the fluid interplay of male and female\, known and unknown. Her work suggests that sex is not merely biological but a shifting\, evolving landscape—both intimate and untamed—where identity and desire intertwine. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 19.00 \n\nSaturday\n10.00 – 14.00

SUMMARY:Bread\, Salt & Roses - Xenia Lesniewski\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Our daily lives are woven from routines and rituals—an invisible structure that holds our existence together and becomes perceptible only when disrupted. But the everyday is far more than a series of habits; it is a space of political\, poetic\, and creative potential. Building on this idea\, the ordinary should not be viewed as mere self-evidence\, but as an aesthetic and cultural resonance chamber. The objects that fill our living spaces\, and the gestures and patterns that structure our days\, are far more than functional necessities. They carry layers of meaning\, deeply intertwined with social\, cultural contexts. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 18.00

SUMMARY:Trazos y espacios - Juan Antón\, Weecolors\, Ander Sagastiberri i Julio Varela\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Strokes and Spaces\nThis exhibition\, titled Strokes and Spaces\, proposes the convergence of four artistic practices that\, while not having clear thematic affinities\, do share certain formal traits in their exploration of image and form. \nOn the one hand\, we discover how the artists work from the idea of landscape (natural\, domestic\, emotional) and how they frequently use fragmentation and repetition. They also demonstrate an express intention toward plastic and material experimentation that leads them to propose new ways of understanding and practicing the mediums of painting\, drawing\, and installation. \nArtists: Juan Anton\, Weecolors\, Ander Sagastiberri\, Julio Varela. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 18.00

SUMMARY:Flowers - Tiago Tebet\, Donde florece lo salvaje - Antonio Kuschnir\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Room 1 | Tiago Tebet: 8 Billion Flowers\nCurated by Esmeralda Gómez Galera\n\nIn Eight Billion Flowers\, his first solo exhibition in Mallorca\, Tiago Tebet (São Paulo\, 1982) explores fragility and permanence through the floral motif. Inspired by flowers’ ability to evoke the passage of time\, death\, and spirituality\, the Berlin-based Brazilian artist presents a group of works that combine painting and textiles\, transforming the transience of nature into something enduring.\nIn his textile pieces\, Tebet deploys an expanded painting in which the canvas is torn\, reconstructed\, and reconfigured\, creating vibrant\, material abstract forms that evoke constantly changing flowers. The title of the exhibition refers to the idea of an event: both a flower blooming and a person living are unique and unrepeatable moments. This parallel also refers to the world’s population\, with its eight billion “events.”\n\n\nRoom 2 | Antonio Kuschnir: Where Does the Wild Bloom?\nCurated by Ana Júlia Vilela\n\nThe work of Antonio Kuschnir (Rio de Janeiro\, 2001) is characterized by an intense exploration of narrative in painting\, where he combines characters\, objects\, and landscapes from different eras in nonlinear compositions. His work engages with great masters such as Picasso\, Matisse\, and Cézanne\, but with a contemporary perspective that incorporates metalanguage and references to his own artistic output.\nWith a largely subdued palette\, contrasting with vibrant accents\, Kuschnir constructs dreamlike and evocative atmospheres. His interest in theater is reflected in the scenography of his paintings\, where elements such as curtains and fragmented compositions suggest a mise-en-scène within the painting. Furthermore\, his titles offer interpretive clues without closing the meaning of the work\, leaving room for the viewer’s imagination. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 14.00\, 15.00 – 19.00 \nSaturday\n11.00 – 14.00

SUMMARY:Los silencios del estudio - Jean Marie del Moral\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:Born to a Catalan mother and an Andalusian father\, son of exiles\, Jean Marie del Moral was born and raised in France. At the age of 9\, he bought a second-hand Agfa Box at a street market\, which revealed his passion for photography. Driven by this\, in his adolescence\, he worked as an assistant photographer and cultivated his technical mastery. With sports reports\, he acquired quickness of vision and agility of execution\, while later\, with photojournalism for the newspaper L’Humanité\, he captured the social with respect and humanism. \nIn 1974\, his move to Montreal allowed him to travel frequently to New York to discover the abstract expressionist painters and the balance and silence of the photographs of Paul Strand and Walker Evans\, among others. Later\, he also traveled to the USSR\, where he photographed the Bolshoi\, its sets\, costumes and dancers. In 1978\, having settled back in Paris\, he resumed his service with L’Humanité Dimanche and\, that same year\, had the opportunity to photograph Joan Miró in his studio. This was the starting point of his personal project: to portray the artist in his studio\, in his “mental universe”. \nIn 1980\, he extensively portrayed the sculptor Fenosa and\, in the following years\, the Spanish artists of the School of Paris and their later generation: Antonio Saura\, Eduardo Arroyo\, Miguel Ángel Campano\, among others. In 1985\, in Paris\,he met and portrayed the Mallorcan painter Miquel Barceló\, who he would continue to portray throughout his career in Barcelona\, Mali and Mallorca. In 1990\, in his studio\, he photographed Robert Motherwell\, Sam Francis and\, the following year\, Roy Lichtenstein and Richard Teixer\, among others. \nIn 2000\, he portrayed the Californian painter James HD Brown\, in Mexico. In 2008\, he photographed the painters Yue Minjun\, Zhang Xiaogang\, Zeng Fanzhi and Ai Weiwei in Beijing\, for Madame Figaro. In 2013\, he settled in Mallorca\, where he continued his work portraying artists. His work portraying artists and studios has given rise to a multitude of publications in the form of books\, magazines and documentaries. At the same time\, Del Moral collaborates with numerous international magazines such as Vogue\, Fortune\, El País Setmanal\, Beaux-Arts Magazine\, Ambient\, Elle\, Town and Country\, L’Expansion\, Madame Figaro\, Travel and Leisure\, AD\, Departures\, ForbesLife\, World of Interiors\, ArtKunstmagazin\, Holiday\, Icon. \nHe has photographed approximately sixty commissioned books on the art of living and cooking\, published by Éditions du Chêne\, Flammarion\, Thames & Hudson\, Martinière\, Actes-Sud\, Aubanel\, Assouline\, Phaidon\, Rizzoli and Harvill Press. In addition to his work on artists and studios\, and his work for the press and publishers\, he also carries out personal research into urban landscapes\, nature\, portraits and architecture; Photography is\, at all times\, the true protagonist\, whatever the situation or the character in front of its camera; silence and visual coherence from the kind gaze are its foundations. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n10.00 – 18.00

SUMMARY:BETWEEN PARADISES AND HYPERREALITIES\, ART PALMA BRUNCH
DESCRIPTION:La Bibi + Reus will hold a double opening next Friday March 21 and Saturday March 22 that marks\nthe beginning of a new artistic cycle\, being the first project carried out in Mallorca since the recent\nfusion. Within the framework of Art Palma Brunch\, these proposals present a fresh and stimulating\nvision of contemporary art\, offering the public the possibility of exploring new ways of interacting with\npainting and space\, creating visual experiences that invite the viewer to reflect on nature\, paradise\nand contemporary representations of the world. \nPærdís\, a solo show by An Wei\nAn Wei\, known for his experimental approach to figurative painting\, presents an installation which\nexplores the notion of space through expansive fragments. On this occasion\, the painting becomes a\nhabitable and passable place\, generating an immersive installation that invites visitors to reflect on\nthe problematic relationship between man and paradise. Through the recreation of a garden\, the work\naddresses the concept of domesticated nature\, questioning what we understand by “paradise” in a\nworld dominated by humans. \nGreen Lemons\, a solo show by Paul Riedmüller\nPaul Riedmüller presents a new series of works he has developed during his residency at the gallery\,\ndeeply influenced by the landscape of Mallorca and his daily experiences on the island. The pieces\,\nranging from still lifes to landscapes and bold spatial interventions\, transform the exhibition space\ninto an immersive environment. His work aligns with Jean Baudrillard’s theory of the simulacrum\,\nexploring the dissolution of the boundary between image and reality through digital renderings\nmaterialized on canvas. Riedmüller confronts us with a hyperreality that redefines our perception of\nimages and their relationship to the world we inhabit. \nThe event will take place on March 21\, from 18:00 to 21:00h\, and on March 22\, from 11:00 to 14:00h\nat C/ Molí del Comte\, 47A. The shows will be open until May 30\, encouraging viewers to immerse\nthemselves in a visual dialogue to question reality and perception\, in the context of a dynamic and\nevocative space. \n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 15.00

SUMMARY:Victoria Cantons
DESCRIPTION:Victoria Cantons’ work inhabits a space where painting\, language\, and memory intertwine\, creating images that resonate on both intimate and collective levels. Her pictorial practice does not conform to a single movement or category; instead\, it absorbs and transforms multiple artistic and historical references\, ranging from the Renaissance and Baroque to Abstract Expressionism and Conceptual Art. \nHer paintings carry the gestural quality of Cy Twombly\, the emotional intensity of Goya\, and the interplay between language and image explored by artists such as Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 17.00

SUMMARY:Prudencio Irazabal - Piano Transcriptions
DESCRIPTION:Although certain mechanisms of music have sometimes served to approach painting\, it should be clarified that these Piano Transcriptions (Piano transcripts) have very little to do with it\, since painting and music are two universes that do not obey the same law\, according to Pierre Boulez. \nIn the main room three works of wide and luminous instrumentation are shown\, where the scale and color are protagonists. It could be said that the works of the adjoining room\, due to their reduction to a domestic size and by the contraction of color and light\, dialogue with those three from the concept of transcription: as if the chromatic mass had been transcribed to the voice of a single instrument and to the variations on the bright black of the lacquer of the piano. \nOpening hours\nTuesday  – Friday: 10:30 to 18:30\nSaturdays: 10:30 to 13:30 \n

SUMMARY:Erwin Olaf
DESCRIPTION:The first posthumous exhibition dedicated to Erwin Olaf (Hilversum\, 1959 – Amsterdam\, 2023) at Baró Galeria pays tribute to an artist whose work redefined the way we perceive the body and its relationship with cultural and social codes. \nIt brings together two of his most recent photographic series\, Dance in Close-Up (2022) and Shanghai (2017)\, along with the series he developed throughout much of his prolific career\, Still Life (1994–2021). In this way\, it intertwines the intimate and the collective\, revealing the symbolic layers that characterize his work. \n  \nOpening hours:\nMonday\, Wednesday\, Friday\n11 am–2 pm\, 3–7 pm \nSaturday\n11 am–2 pm

SUMMARY:Martin Mas - The matter matters
DESCRIPTION:Born in Uruguay and settled in Palma de Mallorca since 2004\, Martín Mas is known for his organic sculptures and wall objects in wood. His work\, which includes painting\, sculpture\, works on paper\, and installations\, develops a contemporary and minimalist visual language that combines organic forms\, with wood as the central focus. \nIn this new exhibition\, Mas returns to wood as his primary medium. His pieces are characterized by their simplicity\, clear lines\, and organic forms. This latest body of work marks a renewed exploration of color\, where he investigates various textures\, shapes\, lines\, and marks\, transforming wood—a simple and universal material—into genuine and contemplative works. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening hours:\nMonday – Friday\n11.00 – 17.00
